Uno dei piaceri di questo Schmuck 2016: la possibilità di vedere da vicino una bella selezione dei lavori di Peter Chang, uno dei più significativi artisti di gioiello contemporaneo, nato nel 1944 da madre inglese e padre cinese.
One of the delights of this year’s Schmuck: the chance to see a beautiful selection of Peter Chang’s work from up close, one of the most significant contemporary jewel artist, born in 1944 from an English mother and a Chinese father.
Il suo elemento è la plastica, materia magica e multiforme che l’artista lavora sovrapponendo più strati sostenuti da un cuore di poliuretano rinforzato da fibre di vetro, dando vita ad oggetti unici e fantastici. His element is plastic, a magic and many-sided material, that the artist handles by overlapping layers and holding them together with an expanded polyurethane core beefed up with glass fibers, bringing to life fantastic and unique pieces.
Racconta Peter Chang: “The magic of the object lies in the vision and creative ability of the artist to see the hidden potential and to release it. The exploration in plastics present both a fascination and challenge to me and some of the solutions discovered help to define my identity. The making of objects is one of my means of self-expression. This expression formulated in these “chimeras” are a non-verbal attempt to balance both the intellect with the intuitive“. Alla gioia dell’esposizione alla Fiera di Monaco si è aggiunto anche un moto d’orgoglio personale… tra le opere esposte c’era anche un pezzo che avevo scelto per la mostra The Beauty Chase che ho curato per il festival di arte contemporanea Fantastic lille3000 nel 2012! Apart from the joy of being at exhibition in the Munich Fair, I also had a chance to feel some personal pride…among the displayed artworks, there is also a piece I had previously chosen for “The Beauty Chase” exhibition, that I curated during the Contemporary Arts Festival Fantastic lille3000 in 2012!
