Federica Sala, who recently finished her Masters at the Alchimia school in Florence (with Jorge Manilla as tutor), presented her work “Unbearable Lightness” during these days at Schmuck in Munich, with her strong passion for glass (no wonder she worked with the great Giorgio Vigna), her surprising technical talent and admirable determination.
In this interview, she tells us more about her interesting technique through which she “mounts” minerals such as kyanite or aegirine onto glass. The contrast between transparency and rough matter, between shininess and unpolished opacity make for a fascinating result.
