Exhibitions curated

Gli artisti in mostra erano: Artifizio, Giampaolo Babetto, Helen Britton, Maria Cristina Bellucci, David Bielander, Peter Chang, Jantje Fleischhut, János Gábor Varga, Francesca Gabrielli, Mirjam Hiller, Beppe Kessler, Sari Liimatta, Nel Linssen, Stefania Lucchetta, Svenja John, Lisa Juen, Iris Nieuwenburg, Barbara Paganin, Katja Prins, Jacqueline Ryan, Bettina Speckner, Fabrizio Tridenti, Tanel Veenre, Petra Zimmermann.

united kingdom Recently, I was curator of contemporary jewellery exhibitions, taking care of the selection of the artists, of the art works on display, the set-up of the halls and the preparation of the catalogues and all editorial materials.

► From 25 November 2023 to January 2024 I curated the exhibition Reverso 25 years on the occasion of the 25th anniversary of Galeria REVERSO in Lisbon. Artist Paula Crespo‘s gallery hosted the works of over 50 international authors who created works inspired by four colours, the gallery’s ‘flag’: orange, fuchsia, purple and bright green.

October 2020 – October 2021 Musée des Arts Décoratifs of Paris hosted a double solo exhibition Collect/Connect , as a curator I presented Stefania Lucchetta new work and some very representative first pieces. The exhibition was part of Parcours Bijoux 2020, the parisian contemporary jewellery event.

October – November 2018 I curated the exhibition Stefania Lucchetta – INTERSEZIONI – Jewellery between design, art and technology, with a catalog published by Il Poligrafo. It was presented at the Magazzino Gallery of Palazzo Contarini Polignac in Venice. A great personal exhibition, with a strong visual impact, made of contrasts of light and shadow to better highlight the titanium jewels, sometimes colored other times in gray and lunar shades that reveal unexpected transparencies swinging in space.

Stefania Lucchetta is a pioneer of the techniques usually called 3D printing, so it was important to trace a path of the technological evolution that allows you to realize the idea and stimulate the creativity. The exhibition presented from the first attempts already made in 2003-4 with stereolithography epoxy resins up to today’s titanium jewels created with the Selective Laser Melting.

► In 2016, I curated the exhibition “Robin Clerici meets Jamin Puech”, where the Roman artist – well known for her peony and hydrangea hand rings – presented, for the first time in France, her lost-wax casted bronze and silver jewels, in harmony with the colorful universe of renowned accessory brand Jamin Puech.

The exhibition/event took place in the Rive Gauche boutique of the French brand and for her first parisian experience, the artist approached more complex structures, such as the surfacing bright pearl on the uneven and indented rigid bracelet, resembling the porous crust of cliffs.

► In 2014 I curated the exhibition “Barbara Paganin – Memoria Aperta” which was held at Palazzo Fortuny in Venice. There were 25 jewels, that is 25 brooches, on display, each one represented a story, that digged up in past memories, memories that made you think, imagine, project, build, empathize. Each brooch told a story that anyone could imagine different, adapting it to his own memory. The memories that belonged to others fused with the artist’s personal ones.

The 25 art works were designed as a single set, for which Barbara Paganin worked continuously for two years, and designed to be exhibited together for the first time at the Palazzo Fortuny in exhibition.

► In 2012 the Department of Culture of the City of Lille in France gave me free rein as curator of the collective exhibition “The Beauty Chase” which presented the work of 24 contemporary jewellery artists coming from all of Europe and over 150 single art works. The event was located at the Espace Le Carré – the heart of contemporary art in Lille – and was part of the major contemporary art festival “Fantastic 2012 – Lille3000”. The aim of the exhibition was to offer to a wide audience an approach to contemporary jewellery as part of contemporary art. It was a chance for me to draw a sort of identity card of contemporary jewellery and to reflect on the real meaning of the movement that goes under this name. It was also a chance to see the attendance of a varied and curious audience.

The artists involved were: Artifizio, Giampaolo Babetto, Helen Britton, Maria Cristina Bellucci, David Bielander, Peter Chang, Jantje Fleischhut, János Gábor Varga, Francesca Gabrielli, Mirjam Hiller, Beppe Kessler, Sari Liimatta, Nel Linssen, Stefania Lucchetta, Svenja John, Lisa Juen, Iris Nieuwenburg, Barbara Paganin, Katja Prins, Jacqueline Ryan, Bettina Speckner, Fabrizio Tridenti, Tanel Veenre, Petra Zimmermann.
