Schmuck 2016 – Effetti speciali / Special effects – VIDEO

Meglio ancora se gli effetti speciali sposano la filosofia trompe l’oeil e restano delicati e soprattutto discreti. Il primo effetto speciale di questa settimana di gioiello contemporaneo a Monaco, e di cui vi voglio raccontare, è realizzato da Kiko Gianocca artista di Lugano più volte citato in questo blog tra l’altro per le collane-pettorina a macchia di Rorschach semoventi e complesse. Il suo effetto speciale per Schmuck sono degli orecchini dalla inequivocabile sagoma di forcina per i capelli ai quali ognuno può dare la forma che desidera e che come per magia tornano al disegno originale non appena a contatto dell’acqua calda. Non è magia ma tecnologia perché il materiale impiegato è una lega che si chiama Nitinol e che ha al tempo stesso un’altissima duttilità e una “memoria della forma” che permette questo “gioco”.

Special effects
Much better if they follow a trompe l’oeil philosophy and they are tactful and, especially, reasonable. The first special effect I want to tell you about from this contemporary jewelry week in Munich is made by Kiko Gianocca, an artist from Lugano we already spoke about a few times on this blog for his necklaces-aprons with a dynamic and complex Rorschach stain shape. His special effect for Schmuck is a pair of earrings with an unmistakeable hairpin outline, that everyone can shape as they please and then turn back into their original design by submerging them in hot water. It is not magic, it is technology: the material this piece is made of is Nitinol, an alloy which is very flexible but also keeps memory of the shape at the same time, resulting in this “material game”.

Altro effetto speciale lo dobbiamo alla giovane Naama Bergman e al sale. Il principio è semplicissimo: una sottile maglia metallica immersa nell’acqua con altissima concentrazione di sale. Per un bel po’. Il sale si attacca in modo naturale alla maglia e quando viente tirata fuori forma delle spille o dei vasi cristallini… color ruggine. I miei preferiti. L’estetica del progetto è anche nel fatto che quando le reti galleggiano nell’acqua sembrano imponenti meduse

The young Naama Bergman and salt are the authors of another special effect. It is a very simple process: a thin metal mesh is submerged in water with high levels of salt. For quite a long time. The salt will naturally attach to the metal, so that when the stitching is taken out of the water, it results in brooches and crystal clear vases… with a rust color. These are my favorites. This project is also visibly and aesthetically appealing when the stitched nets are floating in water, as they look like impressive jellyfish.

Sbalorditivo è l’effetto per il quale questa volta David Bielander ci ha lasciati a bocca aperta. Qualche bracciale, due anelli e una coroncina basic il tutto fatto con il cartone – quello da imballaggio, da scaltoloni del trasloco per intenderci – e tenuto insieme da una graffetta spillata nei punti giusti. Ho pensato: quando vado a casa me lo faccio uguale. Unico particolare: non è cartone, ma oro. Sì, avete capito bene, oro giallo per la struttura e bianco per la graffetta. Io non ci credevo. Ho dovuto prendere gli oggetti in mano e allora sì effettivamente il peso non mente. Le piegature, il colore spento, l’avvallamento in corrispondenza del “colpo di spillatrice”… incredibile. Ah sì, dimenticavo dal canto mio ho abbandonato definitivamente l’idea del bricolage serale.

David Bielander’s special effect has left us speechless. A few bracelets, two rings and a tiara made with cardboard, the same you use for packing and moving, all linked with some paper clips in the right spots. My thought was: as soon as I’m home, I’ll make one myself. Tiny detail though: it was not cardboard, it was gold. Yes, you got that right, yellow gold for the structure and white gold for the clips. I could not believe it. I had to take them in my hands to actually feel the weight to believe it. The folds, the faded color, the bump where the stapler would be… it was incredible. Ah, by the way, I changed my mind and skipped my plans of a DIY evening.
