united kingdom Here we are again. Tomorrow is the opening of, The Week of Contemporary Jewelry, at The Schmuck in Munich! Among the more than 50 participants selected this year, (by the Swiss artist Bernhard Shobinger), who will be able to compete for the Herbert Hofmann Preis, are three Italians, Fabrizio Tridenti and Annamaria Zanella, already well-known, and the young Giulia Savino, who has recently completed three years at the Alchimia School in Florence.  I am very curious to visit their work.

Besides the main exhibition in the fair stands and the usual myriad of appointments around town, there is  Otto Künzli’s solo exhibit on Friday, at the Neue Sammlung, The International Museum for Design.  There is also an outstanding collective exhibit  (March 6) at the Museum of Ancient Art called, New Jewelry for the Gods, with work of twenty artists including Robert Baines, Daniel Kruger, Jacqueline Ryan, Manfred Bischoff, Georg Dobler and many Italian artists like Francesco Pavan, Bruno Martinazzi and, Graziano Visintin. On Thursday, March 7, we take a train to meet the artist Helen Britton and to visit the exhibit, Things I See, at the Museum for Design in Nuremberg (belonging to Neue Sammlung in Munich).

Please follow me on this blog reading the daily stories about everything that is happening in Munich.

I am a journalist with a passion… in this online space I describe what I see and what I love about contemporary jewellery: its artists, the art works and the places. I share my personal notes, creating a sort of "newspaper" of what I recon is most worthy
