Schmuck Monaco: il premio Herbert Hofmann 2011

Herbert Hofmann 2011

Attai Chen
This piece of jewellery is the result of a very intensive way of working, pushing the material to the edge, dealing with chaos and order. The language is baroque, presenting excessive forms which seem to burst or deteriorate. The bold presence of this piece, with its apparent inner tension, made a very strong impression on the jury.

La costruzione di Attai Chen

Sophie Hanagarth
The iron bracelets of Sophie Hanagarth are shocking and discomforting. But there is more to discover: they refer to the body in a surreal and humoristic way, and at the same time they comment on gender stereotypes.Skillfully forged in iron, halfway jewellery halfway weapon, these intruiging artefacts have teased the jury.

Le farfalle di Mirei Takeuchi

Mirei Takeuchi
An oily, gleaming surface is partly covering two black butterflies. Butterflies are symbols of beauty, lightness and the ephemeral. But in this jewellery the butterfly is turned into a frozen sign, an icon of the insecurity and fragility of our time.
