Folla imprevista in queste proporzioni, persino dagli organizzatori, alla inaugurazione ieri sera al museo di arte antica per la mostra sull’Oro per gli dei, Neuer Schmuck für die Götter che vi avevo preannunciato qualche giorno fa. Il museo ha una splendida collezione di gioielli antichi, etruschi in particolare, ma le opere degli artisti contemporanei hanno occupato una sala a parte e non si sono “mescolati” ai capolavori antichi. Io invece oso l’accostamento.

An unexpected crowd in numbers not even the organizers imagined, attended last night’s opening of the exhibition, “Gold for Gods”, (Neuer Schmuck  für die Götter), at the Museum of Ancient Art which I had announced some days ago. The museum hosts a wonderful collection of ancient jewelry, especially Etruscan, but the work of  contemporary artists occupies a separate room so as not to “mix”  with the ancient masterpieces.  Some  displays were perhaps less visible than others, but it is a nice initiative on the whole.  It put gold in its rightful place as a legitimate material in contemporary jewelry.

Alcune vetrine erano forse meno visibili di altre, ma nel complesso una bella iniziativa per dare anche il giusto spazio all’oro come materiale legittimo per il gioiello contemporaneo.
