Barbara Paganin – Scrivo così i miei racconti 1/2

Eight necklaces hold the task of narrating with precision, incisiveness and clarity Barbara Paganin’s exhibition Memoria Aperta (Open Memory). The art pieces are currently on display until the 15th of August at the Marzee Gallery in Nijmegen in the Netherlands. This time the title Memoria Aperta is also accompanied by the subtitle Catarsi (Cartharsis) in order to emphasize that the process of liberation and storytelling continues. For those who don’t know, I point out that in 2014 the exhibition Memoria Aperta (whose 25 brooches each represent a story) was held at the Fortuny Palace in Venice (I remember it very well as I was the curator) and are now currently on display until the 16th of August at the CODA Museum in Apeldeoorn.
I’d like to present them here and report for each one of them a note written by Barbara Paganin.
Here are the first four… tomorrow the rest!

“Frame” by Barbara Paganin at the exhibition Memoria Aperta Catarsi

When wearing this necklace you have the feeling of being inside a frame and of being in the middle of its story.

The bone open-work pieces once belonged to the latch of a woman’s handbag. Therefore they belonged to the depository of a woman’s world. The mysterious, secret, personal, private and magical world that a woman holds in her handbag [The artist here refers to the former and the previous necklace–Ed].
Tomorrow I will talk about the other four necklaces!
