Schmuck 2013 – Disegnami… / Draw Me…
It does not often happen that I am able to observe close-up, without the reflection of the showcase, the work of Manfred Bischoff, (born in 1947 and lives between Italy and Germany). His work is exhibited with the jewelry and sculptures of Bruno Martinazzi, housed recently in the Maurer Zilioli Gallery in Brescia but currently being transferred to Munich.
His brooches shaped like geese, small men, and a pregnant Madonna, are a cult. They are made in 22 carat gold which the artist treats as if it were modeling clay being used to shape rough child-like forms that go directly to the heart of things. The pieces are always accompanied by a drawing and some awkwardly scribbled words that tend to confuse rather than explain. So much the better.
