Schmuck 2012 – Single
I have dealt with collective exhibits here in Munich, but you should also know that there are many exhibitions dedicated to individual artists here as well. I walk around the city to find Michael Becker, a jewellery maker, and a master at creating beautiful objects that are accurate to the millimeter, not to mention his lapis lazuli bracelet that I like so much and never tire of photographing.
I also visit Babette von Dohnanyi to see the imposing, geometrically structured necklaces and bracelets made in silver mixed with synthetic coral and hematite.
At Christiane Förster’s, (with the Galleria Maurer Zilioli which has as usual transferred from Brescia during the Schmuck), I admire her honeycombs, her laces, and her irregular surfaces in enamel. Her work is also exhibited at “Galerie Hanwerk” in the exhibit, Die Renaissance des Emaillierens).
Finally I visit Peter Vermandere, a funny chap, and his exhibit entitled, I’m Sorry, There’s No Group. He manages to transform himself into various characters-artists (even a woman and a reverend – Reverend R.T.Ampee) playing with the anagram of his name and also multiplying his inspirations, materials and creativity.
